Take a break
One in four people in the UK are endangering their health by working straight through the day without a single break, shows research by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
The nationwide survey also found that a third of workers regularly work through their lunch hour, either because they have too much work to do or because there aren’t enough members of staff to cover the workload. Furthermore, more than half of workers go to work when they feel stressed or physically unwell.
The findings coincide with the CSP’s ‘Fit for Work’ campaign, which encourages employers and employees to adopt healthier working practices.
Phil Gray, chief executive of CSP, said; ‘Physiotherapists are concerned that overworking and not taking breaks is actually costing employers and their staff. Employees pay the price with their health and there is a cost to employers in reduced productivity and performance’.
