D M Wood Medical - now part of Kays Medical Group

Aberdeen based D M Wood Medical has been bought by a leading national provider of first aid medical supplies and training.

New owners Kays Medical, whose head office is in Liverpool, also specialise in infection control and biohazard decontamination products, systems and training. D M Wood Medical will become part of the Kays Medical Group and previous owner David Wood will remain with the company as operations director from the Aberdeen premises. DM Wood Medical will continue to trade under the same name. The acquisition is in line with Kays Medical Group’s aims to see turnover rise above £8m in the next two years.

Kays Medical managing director Ben Ludzker said: “Over the past 30 years D M Wood Medical has built a solid reputation for outstanding customer service and supplying high quality first aid and medical supplies. We look forward to working with David to provide continuity of supply to our new customers and the same high level of service, as well as the additional benefits that Kays are able to offer, including the latest in biohazard control and emergency chemical decontamination products, systems and training.”

DM Wood Medical is the market leader to the North Sea oil and gas industry. Other customers include occupational health departments in organisations ranging from car manufacturers to sports facilities, and around one third of the UK’s GP practices.

Operations director David Wood said: “We are committed to providing solutions for all of our valued customers’ health and safety needs and are delighted to be able to continue servicing them as part of the Kays Medical Group. I am sure many will benefit from the increased number of specialised products and training courses that we can now provide.

Kays Medical was founded in 1976 and the family firm’s customer base now includes blue chip companies and public sector organisations in the UK and abroad. Kays hold a number of major national contracts supplying products and training to a wide variety of sectors such as leisure, food, manufacturing and retail, as well as GP surgeries, schools and prisons.
